Get ready it’s coming!! We are chomping at the bit, going absolutely crazy excited about hosting a Canadian Indian Relay Racing Association event right here in the old Cowtown of Maple Creek on Thursday July 18,2019 at 6 pm !!!
Only the second-time this event has come to Maple Creek! If you have never been to one of these – make the hair on the back of your neck stand up – make you jump up and down and scream like crazy race, meets, then you really need to join us on July 18 ( remember it’s a Thursday) at 6:00pm at High Chaparral Arena!
This event is a celebration of our First Nations people, as teams of four all decked out in Native regalia,(1 catcher, 1 exchange holder, 1 back holder, and one rider, who must ride 3 thoroughbred horses (horses are adorned in traditional war paint and medicine feathers) in a mad race at break neck speed around the track against 2 other teams in each heat!
The sights and sounds will be reminiscent of the beauty, skill and daring of the Warriors of our Indigenous People of yesteryear, all the while embracing the traditions of our First Nations People and celebrating the sacred horse culture. Sounds amazing doesn’t it? But there’s more as after the last heat of Indian Relay Races, at 7:30 pm the Bull Riders Canada Inc. event will explode from the bucking chutes!! That’s right a full bore world class bullriding will be firing at you , just to give all of you adrenaline junkies another fix for your evening!! Curtis Sawyer and the posse from Outlaw Buckers will be bringing their award winning , body crunching, dream stealing bulls to town to take on the best bull riders in the game today. We are calling the entire day “SHOWDOWN IN COWTOWN,” $40 will get you in for the Indian Relay Races and the Bull Riding, $25 if you would like to attend only the bull riding.
Beer Gardens and Concession
