Fire Bans and Road Closure Updates

Update:  Sept 9, 2017:

All fire bans below remain in effect, in addition, all hiking trails in the Centre Block have now closed due to Extreme Fire Hazard.  Certain roads within the Centre Block are also now closed including the road to Lookout Point, and Valley View Road (aka the Mickey Mouse Hills).

Cypress Hills Centre Block, SK – Fire ban currently on and with this comes the closure of the Gap Road.

West Block, SK – Fire ban currently on as well as closures to ALL of the West Block Wilderness Area including activities. This will include hiking, biking, fishing, riding, etc. Only access is from Highway #271 that will lead you directly into Fort Walsh National Historic Site, SK. Battle Creek Road is CLOSED from Highway #271 to Graburn Road at the AB/SK border. Please contact the Ranger Station at 1-306-662-5489 for more information.

Fort Walsh National Historic Site, SK – Fort remains OPEN as well as the Metis Trail and picnic areas – HOWEVER; all other trails surrounding the Fort including access to Battle Creek from the Fort’s property are CLOSED. Please contact the office at 1-306-662-3590 for more information.

Grasslands National Park, SK – Currently under fire ban. Please call 1-877-345-2257 (West Block Visitor Centre) or 1-306-476-2018 (East Block Visitor Centre) for more information on road closures.

Gull Lake, SK – Fire ban LIFTED!!
