  • Goat Yoga (Every Sunday at 11:00am – Grotto Gardens)

Experience the calm, peaceful relaxation of connecting with nature, with Grotto Garden’s Downward Goat Yoga! A relaxing yoga class led by experienced instructors, Downward Goat Yoga has the added benefit of a practise that takes place while Dwarf (mini) goats, wander peacefully around you. It’s a chance to get a little “goat therapy” and “physical therapy” combined!

Classes run every Sunday at 11:00am from the May Long Weekend until the September Long Weekend.

  • ATV Guided Tours (Daily – Historic Reesor Ranch)

Located on the Historic Reesor Ranch in the Cypress Hills , you can now enjoy the first-ever ATV Tours of the Cypress Hills guided by the Historic Reesor Ranch! No experience needed!

Please note that these tours take place on private land using privately owned quads only. Use of ATV’s on any Interprovincial Park land is prohibited. 

Tour includes:

  • Two hours of easy touring through private ranchlands over diverse terrain, among winding trails in deep spruce and pine forests.
  • Two break stops to enjoy the views and take photos of the sites along the way which include stunning vistas of the Historic Reesor Ranch, Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park Wilderness Area, and Battle Creek Valley.
  • Safety instruction and helmets
  • Automatic 4 x 4 ATV’s

Cost:  $89/person (plus fees/taxes)

*Participants must be 16 years and up
**Maximum number of riders per tour is 4 or 5 and minimum 2. Single riders will be added to another group.
***Tours available to both overnight guests and those who want to come out just for the day, between May and September.

Customized for your enjoyment with your choice of traditional ranch activities including Cattle Drive 101. All of our activities are set at a comfortable pace so that you can also enjoy guided hiking and horseback riding excursions on our land and into the Cypress Hills Wilderness Area with cultural, historical and nature interpretation.

These activities are offered to our overnight guests as well as daytime visitors between May and September.

2 Hour Horseback Riding Adventure

For experienced and inexperienced riders. This is a great introduction to the horse world and riding.  Help brush, saddle and get acquainted with your horse before mounting up for a ride on the beautiful and diverse terrain through our land. Rides are scheduled to depart daily at 10 am and 2 pm.  Reservations are required to get your desired ride schedule. $69 per person.

Cowboy Breakfast Ride

Join us for a hearty ranchstyle buffet breakfast in the ‘Ranch Hall Grill’ before heading out for your 2 hour horse adventure. Breakfast is at 9:00 am and Ride goes out at 10 am. $84 per person (breakfast included)

Supper Ride

Join us for a tasty supper meal at the ‘Ranch Hall Grill’ after your Riding Adventure at 4pm.  Supper is at 6 pm. $94 per person (AAA Canadian steak supper or other options available).

Additional Horse Riding Activities:

2 Hour Cattle Drive 101

When was the last time you herded cattle on horseback?  We guess…..never!  Here’s your chance to experience life as a cowhand!  Join the Reesor Wranglers as they gather, move and sort cattle the way it’s been done at the Reesor Ranch for over 100 years. A 2 hour Horseback Riding Adventure is required before participating in this fun and unique adventure. $93 per person.

Pony Rides – For young children

Our Wrangler will take your children on a gentle horse or pony through a fun obstacle course – one child at a time.  Birthday and childrens’ parties are welcome.  One hour total ride time for numerous children – $99

‘Training for Trails’

Designed specifically for learning basic horse control, safety, riding through and around obstacles and gaining confidence to ride on diverse trail terrain.  Young and old are welcome. One hour training – $52 per person.

‘Hanging Out With Horses’ – A “Must Do” activity for your group’s Team Building exercise.

Here’s an opportunity to connect with your group for a positive team building experience using horses in a stress free environment. Group exercises with horses will help your group build trust and improve communications skills in a fun and relaxing setting. One hour experience for all ages –  $52 per person.

  • Fort Walsh Guided Tours (Daily July and August at 10:30am, 12:00pm, 1:30pm, 2:45pm, 3:45pm)

Discover the new visitor centre and interactive exhibits, check out the First Nations camp and North West Mounted Police horses.   • Kayaking – Grasslands National Park (July 1st, July 15th, July 28th (part of Grasslanders Classic), August 12, August 26th)

Explore the West Block of Grasslands National Park by kayaking on the Frenchman River.  Join professional tours guides with Carefree Adventures on this epic 2.5-3hr journey through the wonders of Grasslands.  Search for some of Canada’s rarest prairie creatures, from the majestic Plains Bison to the prehistoric Short-horned lizard, and the cute and elusive Burrowing Owl.

* Learn the proper way to paddle and navigate the waters of the Frenchman

* Explore the natural wonders of Grasslands, and view wildlife from the safety of your kayak.

2hr Tour Itinerary – Cost $125

9:30 am – Arrive at Belza Day Use Area.  Park vehicles and board bus to kayak area.

9:45 am – Get fitted for life jackets, kayak and paddle.

10:30 am – Launch for 2.5 to 3 hour trip against the current and back to launch site. With lunch break.

2:00 pm – Board bus to return to vehicles.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Where trips are cancelled due to weather or safety concerns by Carefree Adventures, every effort will be made to rebook you on a subsequent tour. Where rebooking is not possible, Carefree Adventures will refund your booking fees 100%.
  • Those who cancel with less than 72 hours before your scheduled trip departure, a fee of $50.00 will be charged for each participant.
  • Those who cancel with 72 hours of notice or more, a fee of $25.00 will be charged for each participant.
  • No shows are responsible for 100% of trip fees.

  • Cowtown Culinary Tours – Every Wednesday in July and August in Maple Creek

A number of outstanding professional chefs have made Maple Creek their home, and as a result the Old Cowtown of Maple Creek offers incredible dining experiences to our residents and our visitors.

The Cowtown Culinary Tour visits each of these chefs in their resturants one by one as a part of a guided walking tour of the Maple Creek Heritage District. At each stop, our Chefs provide you with a sampling of Maple Creek’s culinary best!

You will spend approximately 20 minutes with each chef sampling their dishes, learning about their approach, and hearing the unique stories of their individual establishments.

As the tour moves from stop to stop your guide will also provide you with insights on the colourful western heritage of the Old Cowtown of Maple Creek.

  • Bison Backstage Tour – Thursdays 3:00pm at the West Block of Grasslands National Park May 24th – August 30th

You’ve heard the roar of the bull bison and marveled at the herds grazing in park pastures. Now get a VIP backstage pass to discover the secrets of how the plains bison was brought back from near extinction and how its continued safety and health are ensured. Get a fresh perspective of these 2,000-pound beasts as park staff lead you through a labyrinth of corrals, catwalks, alleys and gates, demonstrating the techniques behind the successful conservation program.
