Cowtown Culinary Tours

A number of outstanding professional chefs have made Maple Creek their home, and as a result the Old Cowtown of Maple Creek offers an incredible dining experiences to our residents and our visitors culminating in a wonderful food tour for all.
The Cowtown Culinary Tour visits each of these chefs in their resturants one by one as a part of a guided walking tour of the Maple Creek Heritage District. At each stop, our Chefs provide you with a sampling of Maple Creek’s culinary best!
You will spend approximately 20 minutes with each chef sampling their dishes, learning about their approach, and hearing the unique stories of their individual establishments.
As the tour moves from stop to stop your guide will also provide you with insights on the colourful western heritage of the Old Cowtown of Maple Creek.
We are very excited to feature the following locations on our Cowtown Culinary Tour:
Make your first stop on the Cowtown Culinary tour at the newly opened Grotto Gardens, while there learn about Grotto Garden’s proximity to the site of the old NWMP “A” Division Barracks and the former Dominion Indian Demonstration Farm. (Note: Tour will commence at Grotto Gardens, but all tour participants responsible for their own transportation from Grotto Gardens, to the first stop in Maple Creek. All further stops will be within walking distance).
Just off the main drag, The Rockin’ Horse is a hometown gem in the southwest. This restaurant and bar has a cozy and caual atmoshpere with a country feel! With homestyle meals that will leave you licking your chops and wanting more!
A small town surprise, the Daily Grind offers specialty coffees, fresh baking, light lunches and specialty food items as well as a wide selection of giftware with a down home country feel.
Perfect for light lunches and baked goods, The Shop Bakery & Deli is a new addition not only to Maple Creek but to the Cowtown Culinary tours! Sure to be a delightful stop, this will leave you satisfied yet wanting more all at the same time.
A specially designed entryway will prevent cowboys from riding their horses into the lounge, making it the ideal place to cap off your tour of the Old Cowtown with a signature cowboy cocktail or “mock-tail” and dessert.
Pre and Post Tour Activities:
The Old Cowtown Heritage District is filled with unique shopping outlets, additional dining opportunities, art galleries and two museums!
- Minimum of 4 participants needed to run the tour – Maximum of 20.
- Please pre-book by 11:00am on the day of the tour. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at the Maple Creek Visitor Centre (114 Jasper Street) or online here!
- Meet at Grotto Gardens at 12:50pm.
- Following Grotto Gardens, guests are asked to meet in Maple Creek at the Daily Grind on Jasper Street. (We recommend parking in the CPR lot at the north end of Maple Street).
- Wear comfortable shoes, bring an umbrella (just in case) and COME HUNGRY!
