Shaunavon town office

Known as Boomtown, or Oasis on the Prairies, Shaunavon was established in 1913 as a result of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). As a midway point, Shaunavon supplied water for the trains passing through. Eight hours after land plots went on sale, over 370 had been sold earning a total of $210,000 – a huge sum for the time. In just two short months Shaunavon gained village status. Making history just eleven short months later, Boomtown was the first community in Canada to go from village to town status in less than a year.

Shaunavon is home to many tourist attractions including the award winning Harvest Eatery and Fresh Market, the Grand Coteau Heritage and Cultural Centre, Alley-Oops Fun and Games, and Ranch House Meat Company to name just a few. Alluring features such as a museum, art galleries, bowling alley, swimming pool, tennis courts, skate-board park, baseball diamonds, a hockey and curling arena and so much more will quickly fill your days! With quiet campgrounds, a beautiful walking trail, and parks galore this family friendly town is the perfect place to stay and relax.
