Fall Camping Opportunities

A few important notes:

  • **NEW THIS YEAR** Some parks are offering online reservations for fall camping! Certain campgrounds at The Battlefords, Blackstrap, Cypress Hills, Danielson, Douglas, Narrow Hills and Rowan’s Ravine will be available for online bookings into September.
  • Camping at all other parks listed is first-come, first-serve self-registration.
  • Cheques or cash (please bring correct change) are accepted at self-registration stations. Credit cards are accepted at park administration offices.
  • Current nightly camping rates for full-service ($36), electric ($28) and non-electric ($18) will be reduced by $4 whenever basic services (power, water, service centre, firewood and outdoor toilet) are not available. Economy ($16) and equestrian ($18) rates will not be reduced, unless otherwise noted.
  • Campgrounds not listed will close for the season after the September Long Weekend.

Fort Walsh FAll Openings

Fort Walsh National Historic Site – West Block, Cypress Hills, SK

Fort Walsh will be open from September 6 – September 30 Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30am – 5:00pm.  Limited food available. Guided tours will run from 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. (Those that arrive between scheduled tours may be allotted private tours depending on staff availability).

Note:  Due to current construction at the Fort Visitor Centre, visitors are asked to bypass the Visitor Centre and park down by the Fort.  Staff will be taking entry fees inside the Fort.


 Grasslands National Park Fall and Winter Availability

Grasslands National Park/Visitors Centre – Val Marie, SK

Don’t miss the slower pace of this wonderful season! Take time to smell the sage brush and enjoy the array of prairie colors in the Fall. Escape with your family for self-guided fall fun and camping!

The Grasslands National Park Visitor Centre will be open 5 days per week – Thursday – Monday, from 9-4:30 September 6 – October 10th. (closed Tuesday, Wednesday). The park itself is always open. Call (306) 298-2257 for more information.


TRex Discovery Centre – CLOSED FOR THE 2016 SEASON (Sept 5th)

Willowbend Campground & Cabins – Maple Creek, SK

Power and Sewer available year-round.  Site water dependent on weather, as temperatures fall, sections will be closed until such time as temperatures are consistently below freezing, at which time all water at individual sites will be shut down.  There is still access to water to fill tanks year round.

Washrooms/Showers are both heated and remain open year-round if in use.

Cabins are four-season cabins open year round.

Official Closing Date for the Town Park/Campground is the September long weekend.  However:  If it is a mild fall, as in last year, while water is shut off, power is left on longer.
