We visited Fort Walsh July 25 2019 The signs to this site are extremely poor. We ended up in Cypress Hills Prov Park where they told us we had to go back to Maple Creek. Our time was limited but we hustled back and still had difficultly finding this hidden gem. We barely had time to take the tour and see the video. Loved it there but would suggest advertising this better

Thank you for your comments I will pass them on to the Fort’s Management team. We appreciate you sharing with us your experience.

My wife and I are in our 60s , but walk everyday and we wanted to take the rustic trail to the Cypress Hills Massacre site, on June 6th, 2017. All the information we read on the hike, indicated that it was a 5 km loop trail. ( 2.5kms to the site and 2.5kms back ). I just wanted to advise that the info is incorrect. It is more like 2.5 to 3.0 miles to the site and the 2.5 miles back ( along the road). We have fit-bits and it was clear by the steps we took and it was also clear by some other articles we read on hikers that have completed the same. We took water and lunch, and would have made it back, but luckily for us, 3 park employees offered us a ride back. We were very lucky, but I think the info the Park service puts out should be updated.

Thank you for your comment Doug. We will pass it on to officials at the Park right away. Is it alright if they email you directly at: if they need to get a hold of you?
