People think of the Cypress Hills as a summer destination for camping and hiking and great get-togethers with family and friends…..but have you experienced the Cypress Hills in the winter? And if not….why not?

With four season accommodations like the Historic Reesor Ranch (in the West Block on the Saskatchewan side) and the Elkwater Lake Lodge or YMCA Camp Elkwater (on the Alberta side) to choose from, along with travel deals that make an off-season getaway affordable, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t start learning to love winter in the beautiful Cypress Hills.  Plus, for those who find it’s like herding cats to find a time between hockey camps and vacation plans to get together during the summer, the off-season may be the perfect opportunity for you to find time in your schedules!

For those who are looking to learn more about some of the sports and activities the Area has to offer, but don’t want to invest in equipment for something they haven’t yet tried, you’re in luck!  You’ll find there are lots of different places where you can rent or borrow:  toboggans, skates, snowshoes, cross-country skis, and downhill skis.  For more details on where you’ll find places to rent or borrow equipment please visit our Winter Activities page here under “Things to Do.”

To see how others have embraced this season, check out some of the photos snapped by our visitors below!
